Feeding the kids requires the most careful attention from the farmer, regardless of whether he breeds downy, wool or meat and dairy goats. In a good owner, the kid is under vigilant control literally from the moment it is born.

Instructions

Step 1

Bring the newly born kid to the mother's nipples, having previously expressed some colostrum. Postpartum colostrum will help the kid cleanse of original feces and protect it from infections at first, i.e. will contribute to the initial formation of immunity.

Step 2

Do not give the kid until the 10th day of its life anything other than breast milk, gradually increasing its dose. For the entire first week of life, the kid should be fed at least 6 times a day. Until the 10th day - 5 times.

Step 3

Starting from the 11th day of life, feed the kid 4 times a day, adding a little liquid porridge in breast milk to its food. It is at this age that the kid should be taken away from the udder.

Step 4

Start gradually accustoming your kid to grazing. Three weeks after the birth of a kid, ¼ of its daily diet may already consist of finely chopped root vegetables (mainly potatoes and carrots), grated apples, fresh grass or thin oatmeal.

Step 5

From day 30 on, gradually reduce your milk intake. So, if a kid at the age of 30-40 days is recommended to feed only three times a day, and mother's milk makes up 2/3 of the diet, then at the age of 60-70 days the amount of milk in the kid's diet is only 1/5.

Step 6

Feed the kid, in addition to milk, dry concentrates, cereals, bran, root vegetables and grass constantly, starting about a month after his birth.

Step 7

By two months, the kid can already do without porridge, so replace it with dry feed, hay or cake.

Step 8

Feed the kid with clean water at least 3 times a day, first with warm water at room temperature, then with cool water (but not lower than 12 ° C).

Step 9

Monitor the health of the kids. From the age of two weeks, be sure to give them vitamin and mineral supplements that help strengthen and grow bones, as well as the formation of immunity.
