Plague is an acute viral disease. The virus does not die even at a temperature of -24 ° C. As a rule, if a dog has once suffered the plague, it will no longer be infected.
Instructions
Step 1
The distemper virus infects the brain and back, as well as the lungs. A person cannot become infected with canine distemper, but other animals can easily. Worms and insects are spreading infections. But the dog can pick up the infection from other pets. The virus is transmitted by airborne droplets, through secretions from the eyes and nose. Even 3 months after recovery, the dog is still a carrier of the infection. The virus lurks in the blood, abdomen and spleen. It enters the external environment with feces, urine, exfoliated skin. A dog can become infected after sexual contact with a sick animal, after drinking or feeding from the same bowl with the carrier of the infection. The virus is transmitted on shoes and clothes. A puppy can become infected with distemper with mother's milk.
Step 2
At a young age, dogs are most susceptible to viral disease. Plague is found in animals of all breeds and ages. If the puppy's mother was previously ill and was vaccinated, then the offspring will have the strongest natural defense against this disease. To avoid a terrible disease, you need to follow the vaccination schedule prescribed by the veterinarian.
Step 3
Plague is not a seasonal disease. An epidemic can break out at any time of the year. A variety of distemper is also found in cats, but it is absolutely safe for dogs and vice versa. The incubation period for the distemper virus lasts from 2 days to 3 weeks. The disease can be acute, hyperacute, or lightning fast. Sometimes dogs die even before the clinical picture of the disease manifests itself.
Step 4
A sick animal has a temperature rise of 2-3 degrees. The dog has a fever and this condition can last for about 12 days. The pet loses all reflexes, he arrives in a depressed state, stops drinking and eating, tries to go to a quiet place, vomiting is possible. If the respiratory tract is affected, the dog begins to choke, as pus and mucus block the nasal passages. Sniffing can be heard when inhaling and exhaling.
Step 5
If a dog develops suspicious symptoms, it should be shown immediately to a doctor. After testing and examination, the veterinarian will be able to diagnose and prescribe treatment. To date, a cure for plague has not yet been developed, so treatment is aimed at maintaining immunity and eliminating the symptoms of the disease.
