Watching fish in an aquarium is, at first glance, boring and common. However, not for those who love and appreciate wildlife. The aquarium is a unique underwater world where life follows its own rules. The price of aquariums is quite high, but you can save a lot if you make a glass vessel with your own hands.
It is necessary
glass, whetstone, cloth, acetone, sealant, scotch tape, joint alignment tool
Instructions
Step 1
Purchase glass that is at least 8 mm thick. The edges of the glass must be processed. To do this, wet the sharpening block and walk over the corner edge of the glass about twenty times. To avoid chipping, move the bar along the glass. After processing the glasses, wipe them and leave to dry.
Step 2
Prepare the surface on which you will be gluing. It must be flat and smooth, otherwise skew may occur.
Step 3
Using a cloth soaked in acetone, degrease the areas of the glass to which you will apply the glue. To make the seams even, and the glass next to it does not get stained with sealant, glue adhesive tape to the edges of the glass.
Step 4
Using a cloth soaked in acetone, degrease the areas of the glass to which you will apply the glue. To make the seams even, and the glass next to it does not get stained with sealant, glue adhesive tape to the edges of the glass.
Step 5
Place the glasses at a right angle and connect with tape. This precaution is necessary to ensure that the glass does not fall apart.
Step 6
Apply glue in the right angle between the edges of the glass. The corner must be filled entirely, therefore the sealant, when applied to the glass, must be pressed. The seam will look beautiful if the glue is leveled after application. You can level it using a furniture corner or a homemade spatula.
Step 7
Remove the tape protection. Leave the glass to dry for a day.
Step 8
Form an inner seam, which will greatly strengthen the structure and prevent it from leaking. This process is identical to that described above, except that a coin of a suitable diameter is used to form the seam.
Step 9
Degrease the bonding area of the bottom and the bottom itself. Lower it down carefully. The edges of the bottom and side walls must be leveled so that a gap of 3 mm is obtained.
Step 10
Apply tape protection. Apply glue to the seam. Leave the aquarium to dry.
Step 11
Lay the vessel on its side and glue the stiffener. After a day, glue another rib. Leave the tank to dry for seven days.
