If a cat and a dog grew up in the same house, conflicts, as a rule, do not happen and there is no need to reconcile them. But if you already have a cat, and you decide to have a dog, prepare to act as an intermediary in their communication.
Instructions
Step 1
After bringing the puppy home, let him get comfortable. If possible, do not introduce the animals on the first day. Their meeting must take place in your presence. Show the puppy to the cat. If she is not aggressive, you can let her sniff the new tenant. If the cat does hiss, remove the puppy and let it move, and then lower the puppy to the floor. Let the cat watch the stranger. Encourage your cat to behave appropriately. If she calmly observes the puppy, does not show aggression, stroke her, give a piece of delicacy.
So the cat will get used to the fact that the new pet is just another member of the family, and not a contender for her place in the house.
Step 2
To avoid open conflicts, remember and follow a few simple rules: • do not impose communication on animals;
• do not let the puppy bother the cat;
• keep the cat away from the puppy's bowl when he is eating;
• feed pets in different rooms or at least corners.
Step 3
In the event that a cat (or cat) enters the house with a dog, you need to make sure that there is a safe place for him. Equip a litter box, litter there, so that if necessary, your new pet could hide and wait for your help. Leave the dog on a leash or a special loop on the collar. If necessary, you can intervene in the conflict in time, pull them apart in different corners. Check the claws of your animals, if necessary, shorten them. This is especially important if one of them is a kitten or a puppy.
Step 4
Love and take care of your pets equally, play with them. Soon, you won't have to reconcile them. A few weeks or even a month will pass, your pets will make friends and delight you with joint games.
