In newspapers, social networks, and just on the poles, announcements periodically appear that the owners are looking for their lost cat. What to do if your animal is lost and how can you help it find its way home?
Many people have heard stories that even a cat that was taken many kilometers away from home found its way back after a while. There are various theories about how this animal manages to navigate in an unfamiliar area, but, unfortunately, mainly those cats that live on the street are capable of this. Only one or two out of ten domestic sissies can find their way home, the rest, finding themselves alone in an unfamiliar place, simply panic.
What to do to find an escaped cat?
Often, those cats that go for a walk on the street choose freedom for themselves and do not want to return home. Such an animal will be even more difficult to find, because in no case will it go to the call of the owner, but, on the contrary, will try to run away and hide from him.
If a domestic cat is lost, then you need to find it as soon as possible, because it is in great danger - the animal can be hit by a car or become easy prey for a pack of stray dogs. You should not sit and wait for your pet to return on its own - start an active search for her.
Where to look for a lost cat? She will not go far from her home, so look for her in its surroundings, while moving in an expanding spiral. The cat will not be nailed to its homeless relatives and will probably try to hide, so during the search call her by name, while rustling a bag of food or her favorite toy. Keep in mind that a frightened animal may not come out to the call of the owner and freeze in some secluded place, literally numb with fear. Therefore, carefully inspect the entire area adjacent to your home. Do not disregard the attic, stairs, basement and any tree growing in the yard.
What if the lost cat cannot be found?
If you have not been able to find a cat on your own, then go out in search, enlisting the support of relatives and friends. Pair up and comb the area, best done in the late evening or early morning. At such a time, the street is quite quiet and deserted, and the animal is more likely to come out to the call.
Be sure to distribute to your assistants and post high-quality photos of your animal with your contact phone number and a request from the finder to return the cat for a reward on the porches and poles, as well as post them on social networks and on the forums of your city. Be sure to indicate the special characteristics of the animal in your ad. Hang the same ads in pet stores and veterinary clinics.
In no case do not delay the search, and then, with a high degree of probability, your pet will soon be at home again.
