Pet stores have a fairly large selection of cages - it's not difficult to find a home for guinea pigs or rats. It's a different matter if you decide to have Dzungarian hamsters. These tiny animals manage to crawl anywhere, including into the cell of an ordinary store cage. So it is better to equip the house for them with your own hands. A suitable cage can also be made for larger Syrian hamsters.
It is necessary
- Plexiglass
- Corners
- Drill
- Self-tapping screws
- 2 loops
- Small metal hook and eyelet.
Instructions
Step 1
Cut the plexiglass. The cage is a rectangular parallelepiped 30-40 cm long, 25-30 cm wide and at least 25 cm high.
Step 2
Mark the places where you will hold the corners of the cage walls. Drill the required number of holes. Fasten the walls together with self-tapping screws. Attach the bottom in the same way.
Step 3
Make a roof. Attach it to the back wall with hinges. Ordinary door hinges for such a small dwelling will be too big, but the hinges that secure the cabinet door are just right. Attach a hook on the other side of the roof. Attach a small stud with a wide head to the front wall of the cage, to which the hook will cling.
Step 4
Set up a home for your hamster. Attach the feeder to the wall. It can be any plastic container that is strong enough. You need to attach it to the bottom of the wall so that the hamster can climb into it and rummage in the stern.
Step 5
At a height of 3 cm, attach a drinking bowl to the wall. It is best to use an autodrinker, from which your baby will receive exactly as much water as he needs. Make sawdust bedding at the bottom. It needs to be changed frequently.
There must be a wheel in the cage, otherwise the hamster will get fat. The wheel can be bought, or it can be made of the same plexiglass on bearings. The wheel is also attached to the wall. Other equipment is at your discretion. These can be ladders, logs, and other objects that your hamster can climb.
