Quail breeding today is one of the most promising areas of farming. The value of this bird lies in the wonderful dietary properties of quail meat, and in the unique properties of quail eggs, which are useful not only as a food product, but also have healing properties. The most important factor in quail breeding is the correct approach to their nutrition.
Instructions
Step 1
When feeding quails, it must be borne in mind that their diet should contain all trace elements, proteins and vitamins that will help achieve the goal set by the farmer. There are two main nutritional options for homemade quail - natural food, prepared by yourself, and ready-made compound feed. It is also important to pay attention to the task itself, for which quail is grown - for laying eggs or as a broiler for meat. The amount of feed in the diet varies depending on the age of the bird. Regular nutrition is recommended - 3-4 times a day, although if the goal is to fatten for weight, you can constantly keep the feed in the trough.
Step 2
Immediately after the chicks hatch from the eggs, they need protein food. Therefore, at the age of 1 to three days, they can be fed with chopped boiled eggs with the addition of grated eggshell, which is a source of calcium - an indispensable element in the diet of birds, and after three days, gradually add grain feed. In the first week of life, birds consume about 7-10 g of feed per day, in the second - from 10 to 15, in the third - 15-20 and from the fourth week they reach an approximate consumption, as in an adult - 30-35 g. Thus, monthly feed consumption is about 1 kg per quail.
Step 3
An approximate recipe for self-preparation of feed, per 1 kg:
- crushed wheat - 0.2 kg;
- crushed corn - 0.4 kg;
- sunflower meal - 0, 15 kg;
- soybean meal - 0, 15 kg;
- fish meal - 0.03 kg;
- meat and bone meal - 0.04 kg;
- premix - 0.01 kg;
- tricalcium phosphate - 0.015 kg;
- sunflower oil 1 tablespoon.
Step 4
Of course, ready-made feed, which can be purchased at pet stores, is more convenient for keeping quails at home. This type of feed already contains a fully balanced complex of vitamins and minerals. Feeds for laying hens are very suitable. Liquid feed is not recommended as it can clog the bird's airways. When feeding with ready-made compound feed, you should definitely pay attention to the fact that the feed is fresh, the health of the bird depends on it.
Step 5
When feeding quails, add greens - nettles, alfalfa, clover, beet tops, cabbage leaves. This will help improve digestion and serve as an additional source of vitamins.
Step 6
Do not forget that there must be constant access to water. A nipple drinker is optimal for use, in it the water does not dry out, unlike in a cup, and the bird can get as much water as it needs.
