By purchasing a puppy with documents, you do not receive a pedigree, but a metric - a temporary document that contains basic information about the puppy. It is up to you to exchange the metric for the pedigree.
Instructions
Step 1
At first, you will receive a dog with only a brand and metric. It's kind of like a birth certificate. It contains the name of the puppy, breed, gender, date of birth, color, brand number and information about the parents of the animal. You can use this document until the dog reaches the age of 15 months. In fact, the same as a birth certificate for a person - from a certain age, it is required to obtain the main document. It is still possible to take a dog to exhibitions with a metric, but for mating it is preferable to have a pedigree.
Step 2
To exchange metrics for pedigree, contact the kennel club. You can use the one that issued the metric, and in which your dog is registered. If you purchased a puppy in a private kennel, you can contact the breeder directly - the kennel owners themselves issue metrics and send them for exchange.
However, you can make an exchange in any club that is more convenient for you.
Step 3
This pleasure costs between 800-1500 rubles, but each dog club has its own prices. After all, there is the cost of the exchange itself and a certain amount that the club takes for itself for the mediation service. The timing of the exchange is also difficult to predict. If you're lucky, the pedigree will be in your hands in a couple of weeks. Or it may happen that you have to wait a year. You can preliminarily find out in different clubs when their employees are going to go to Moscow in the near future, hand over metrics for exchange.
Step 4
When you bring the metric for exchange, the club will cut off the top half - it will go to the Russian Kennel Federation. The other half will remain with you marked "On exchange". And while you have not yet received a pedigree, a metric with such a stamp gives you the right to participate in exhibitions.
Step 5
It also happens that there is not even a metric. The breeder who sold the puppy assures that the parents have all the necessary documents, but the puppies did not draw up metrics for reasons of economy. Alas, most likely this is not the case, but you can find out from the breeder the data of the parents, and if they really have documents, then you can check this data in the club and draw up the metric yourself. You can also get a pedigree for a dog whose parents do not have documents. In this case, on the back of the pedigree, where all ancestors of the animal up to the 4th generation are indicated, there will be an entry "No information".
Step 6
Do not confuse the veterinary passport with the main document of the dog. Do not let the word "passport" mislead you - it is nothing more than a medical card. This document is, of course, important, because it contains data on all vaccinations, but this book has nothing to do with the degree of pedigree. This document is issued by the veterinary clinic to any cat or dog.
