The health status of rabbits is largely determined by the conditions in which they are kept. In addition to creating optimal humidity, good lighting and ventilation of the room, timely sanitization of cells and equipment plays an important role in avoiding many diseases.

Instructions

Step 1

The floor grill should be cleaned with a metal scraper. A low container is placed under the cage (for convenience, it can be installed on a trolley), into which food debris and bedding are raked. Next, you need to raise or completely remove the grate from the cage and remove the manure from there. To prevent rabbits from interfering during harvesting, they can be driven into an adjacent compartment of the cage, after which the laser should be closed with a plywood shutter. In this way, all the cages are cleaned, and finally the floor of the rabbitry is swept.

Step 2

The cleaning process will be accelerated if pallets made of plywood or sheet metal are installed under the floor grill. Manure will fall on them between the slats of the grate. If the pallet is made of wood, the bottom should be covered with plastic wrap to protect the boards from swelling and the plywood from delamination.

Step 3

Initially, you should clean the cage grate, and then pull out the pallet and shake out the accumulated manure from it into a container. This can also be done through a special hatch in the wall of the rabbitry, from where the waste will fall directly into a compost pit specially arranged outside the shed.

Step 4

A couple of times a year, especially in autumn and spring, you cannot do without disinfecting the cells. This procedure can be carried out in different ways. The simplest and most effective of these is the treatment of the rabbitry with fire. For this, a gas torch or blowtorch is suitable, with which the cleaned wooden parts of the cage are processed until they are slightly brown. During this procedure, it is important to be careful not to start a fire.

Step 5

You can also disinfect the rabbitry with the help of chemicals. In the case of using bleach, a 10% solution is taken, with which the cages, inventory and walls of the rabbitry are processed with a wide brush.

Step 6

Ash liquor perfectly kills germs. To prepare the solution, wood ash is added to boiling water (at the rate of 1/3 of the volume of water). The mixture is boiled for about half an hour, after which it is filtered and brought to a boil again. Next, immediately with a hot solution, you should start processing the cells.

Step 7

Whichever method of disinfection is used, it is periodically recommended to cover the outer parts of the cells with a solution containing slaked lime. It is useful to handle wooden feeders with blowtorch fire, and it is better to boil the components of ceramic, glass, metal auto-feeders and auto-drinkers.
