Some Sharpei owners complain that their animal is clumsy and clearly overweight, smells bad and looks unkempt. To get rid of such problems, you just need to establish nutrition - to feed the Shar Pei correctly and fully.

Step 1
Feed the animal twice a day. Feed Shar Pei puppies three times a day until they reach three months of age, then gradually transfer the pet to two meals a day. The breed is prone to digestive problems (volvulus), which can be aggravated with abundant nutrition.
Step 2
Consider counting calories. Shar Pei are often obese, so correlate the nutritional value of the food and the level of activity of the animal.
Step 3
Avoid sweetened foods. If you are sedentary, reduce calories and consider feeding your dog an older animal food with a lower protein content.
Step 4
Choose the right cookware. Throw away plastic and vinyl bowls. Purchase a ceramic or steel bowl to reduce the risk of contact allergies to zero.
Step 5
Do not feed your dog "human" food. Thermally processed foods from our table cause allergies in Shar Pei, whose body is not adapted to the digestion of this kind of food.
Step 6
Mix dry food and canned food. You can feed the Shar Pei with canned food, but it is better to mix them with dry food, otherwise the dog may refuse to eat. Do this rarely, do not give the Shar-Pei the opportunity to refuse dry food.
Step 7
Don't force-feed your dog. Some shharpei may refuse to eat and eat once a day, or even two. Do not force your dog to eat - this is how it regulates its own weight.
Step 8
"Deceive" a Shar Pei with an increased appetite. Add hearty, low-calorie foods like pumpkin to your feed. Such supplements will be beneficial and will allow the dog to feel full faster.
Step 9
Support your body with vitamins. This rule applies to older and weakened dogs that need additional vitaminization.
Step 10
Consider switching to a raw meat diet. If your pet does suffer from allergies, try feeding him raw meat products (start with seeds).
