Shar Pei are patient dogs, but a bit stubborn. Therefore, the owner of this dog must have a lot of patience in order to provide proper care for the Shar-Pei and bring up a wonderful dog in all respects. But education is not training, but the rules of behavior of the dog and … the owner in relation to it.
Instructions
Step 1
Buy dog grooming products such as a nail clipper, shampoo, cotton ear pads, and a hair brush. Shar Pei skin does not require any special care, but every time after eating, wipe the dog's face with a soft towel so that food debris does not accumulate in folds and later become the cause of skin inflammation. Bathe the Shar Pei no more than once every 2 months.
Step 2
Note that Shar Pei dogs are clean and avoid defecating where they sleep. So take your puppy for a walk before and after sleep. Gradually increase the time and radius of walks so that the dog has time to remember all the territories adjacent to your house. At first, do not let the dog off the leash, but also do not keep it taut. The puppy should get used to the fact that the leash is a symbol of a walk, not a forced home.
Step 3
Do not punish the puppy if some time has passed after his prank. Scold him only if caught at the "crime scene".
Step 4
Immediately mark those areas in the house where the puppy is not allowed to enter (nursery, bedroom, etc.). To do this, never bring it into these rooms, even if it is still very small. Dogs have an excellent memory, and sometimes it is enough to allow something once, so that later the pet will take it for granted and resist your attempts to stop the previously allowed action. Therefore, do not put a helpless puppy next to you in bed, if you do not want to fight for a piece of a blanket with an adult dog in a few months.
Step 5
From the first days, teach Shar Pei to all the commands. Since the Shar Pei is somewhat stubborn and can carry out some commands according to his mood, at least make sure that he unquestioningly fulfills the command "to me!" To do this, put the puppy on a long leash, say this command and start slowly and gently pulling him towards you. After the dog is next to you, treat him to a tasty morsel and remove the collar. Repeat this procedure several times a day and be sure to reward your puppy constantly. After the dog has approved this lesson, you will at least be sure that the Shar Pei will not get lost in an unfamiliar place, unless, of course, some unforeseen situations arise.
Step 6
Feed your Shar Pei regular dog food. When the Shar Pei's milk teeth change to permanent ones (at 4-5 months), buy him special toys or periodically give him bones. If you see that the puppy is selflessly gnawing on the leg of a chair, do not scold him, but immediately give him a toy so that he is not distracted from a pleasant activity and you are calm about your furniture.
