When you hear the clatter of your dog's claws on the floor, then know - it's time to cut them. After all, otherwise the claws will begin to deliver a lot of inconvenience: they will interfere with the pet when walking, begin to crack and even bleed. Moreover, the claws can curl up and grow into the soft pads of the paws. Therefore, clipping the nails is an absolutely necessary procedure.
It is necessary
nail clipper, nail file, nail scissors, cotton swabs, dry potassium permanganate
Instructions
Step 1
Place the pet on your lap, take the dog's paw with your left hand. With the same hand, gently press the animal to you. This will keep the pet firmly in place and prepare it for the procedure.
Step 2
From the claw that you are going to cut, move the fur and put a little pressure on the York's finger. In this case, the claw will move slightly outward, and it will be more convenient to handle it.
Step 3
Carefully, without touching the claw bed, lightly trim the claw. Cut at a 45-degree angle.
Look carefully and trim some more if required. Be sure to process the profitable fifth fingers, which are hidden in the fur and do not participate in walking.
Step 4
Pay special attention to the small dark area in the middle of the claw - the beginning of the claw bed. This is necessary so as not to touch the vessels and sensitive nerve endings and not cause unpleasant sensations to the pet.
Step 5
If you do touch this area and see a drop of blood on the tip of the claw, take a damp cotton swab and place its tip in dry potassium permanganate. Press the potassium permanganate stick to the bleeding area for a short time. Then you can move on to processing the next claw.
Step 6
Run your finger along the trimmed edge of the claws. Their surface is very sharp and can damage both the owner of the animal and the dog itself. Therefore, after trimming, always use a special file to cut the edges of your pet's claws.
Step 7
After clipping and filing, you need to deal with the hair between the dog's toes. This fur collects all kinds of dirt, turns into lumps that stick together and very much interferes with the Yorkie when walking. Also trim all hair below the base of the paw. By the way, dogs like this stage of processing much more than cutting the nails and filing them.
Step 8
It is best to cut the nails after bathing the dog, then they are softened and best suited for processing.
And don't be discouraged if your pet is tired and won't let you go through the entire process. Let him rest and continue the procedure the next day.
