Determining a cat's pregnancy can be a tricky task if you are not in the business of breeding kittens. If there is such a suspicion, pay more attention to the animal. Noticing obvious changes in the behavior of the pet, you can accurately determine whether you are waiting for replenishment in the feline family.
Instructions
Step 1
Do not examine the animal yourself to determine if it is pregnant. Any improper touch of the abdomen (squeezing, pressure) can lead to miscarriage or severe complications in newborn kittens. It is best to entrust your cat to a veterinarian. Only a trained specialist can not harm the animal and make an error-free diagnosis. But keep in mind that it will not be possible to detect pregnancy by touch in the first three weeks. The only thing that can help with the diagnosis is ultrasound.
Step 2
In the third or fourth week of pregnancy, the cat may become lethargic, less active. She will sleep more, and maybe even look weak and sick. At the same time, the pet may feel sick or have no appetite. If the cat refuses to eat for more than two or three days, then it is worth contacting the veterinarian.
Step 3
If you notice obvious changes in the character of your pet, then this may indicate her pregnancy. A calmer animal may become more aggressive and scratch at any touch. This can only be observed in the first half of pregnancy. But then the cat can become incredibly gentle, affectionate and very kind. She will demand more attention and need care.
Step 4
After the third week of pregnancy, the nipples of the animal become bright pink and increase in size. In this case, you can notice a clear increase in the breast itself. Milky fluid may also come out of the nipples.
Step 5
Around the sixth week of pregnancy, the position of the pet becomes obvious, as evidenced by clear changes in the appearance of the cat. Her back flexes, and her belly increases in size. If the pregnancy is multiple, then the belly begins to sag noticeably.
Step 6
The pet will definitely equip itself with a place for childbirth. This happens towards the end of the pregnancy. The animal chooses a secluded corner in the apartment and drags there rags, towels and so on in order to create a cozy nest for itself and future babies. In this case, it is best to help the cat with organization: equip a cardboard box with soft bedding and put it in a quiet place in the house.
Step 7
During the third and sixth weeks of pregnancy, the cat may be in heat. During this period, it is very important not to allow cats to visit the animal, because new mature eggs can also be fertilized. Then there will be cubs of different ages in the uterus. But they will all be born at the same time and the later litter simply will not survive.
