Discus are one of the most beautiful aquarium fish. No wonder this species is called "the king of the aquarium". Nutrition is the most important factor that determines the growth, development, reproduction and health of discus.
Discus nutrition should be as balanced as possible. Five components, such as protein, fats, carbohydrates, minerals and vitamins, are necessary for these fish, like any other animal and person.
You can buy ready-made discus food in a specialized store, but anyone can think of and prepare a treat for the fish themselves. All the necessary nutrients can be contained in minced meat, for the preparation of which you will need a veal heart, sea bass (cod), unpeeled shrimp, squid, garlic, bell peppers, frozen spinach (nettle). All these components will need to be scrolled through a meat grinder and added dry nettle, carrot juice, mustard powder and undevit vitamins, which must be crushed to powder. In addition, you can also add specialized discus food.
To prepare approximately 1.5 kg of minced meat, you will need 250 g of beef heart (remove fat and veins), shrimp, squid (can be used both raw and boiled), sea bass or cod (use defrosted fillet). These ingredients are the basis for minced discus meat. You can add 250 g of carrots (rub on a fine grater). Spinach or nettle will need about 200 g. Garlic needs two cloves. Bell pepper - 1 pc. In these proportions, 6 undevit vitamins are sufficient. You can also add one boiled egg (grated). As mentioned above, these components must be passed through a meat grinder.
The resulting consistency must be put in a bag and frozen. After the finished minced meat is frozen, you can take it out and cut it into small portions in advance. This handmade minced meat contains everything you need for the healthy development of discus. From time to time, you can change the composition somewhat. For example, you can add pumpkin puree and a raw egg to the main minced meat ingredient.
It is enough to feed adult discus 2-3 times a day, small ones a little more often.
