Snail farming is not only a hobby, but also a serious business. Moreover, investments will be minimal, and the income can be about a million rubles per year from just 100 individuals. Of course, before doing this, you need to know all the rules for breeding shellfish.
It is necessary
Snails, aquarium, earth, shavings, bowls, house, coconut shells, water spray, products containing calcium
Instructions
Step 1
Buy snails. If you are planning a serious business, then their number should be about a hundred. If you want to breed without profit (or with minimal income), then two copies will be enough.
Step 2
Get aquariums or boxes with a tight-fitting lid. One snail should have at least 30 square centimeters of space. If you cannot constantly monitor the snails, make some small holes in the wall or lid for air flow. Or open the aquarium lid for a few hours every day. If you purchased adult snails, then they can be kept in the same aquarium, if the mollusks are small, then it is better to settle them in different aquariums. Snails can eat the shell of another individual, often while they are small. Large individuals harm each other less often.
Step 3
Equip your aquariums. They must contain earth, it must be covered with a 2-3 centimeter layer in one of the corners. Fill the rest of the space with coarse shavings. Place a container of water. It should be large in diameter and not very deep. Create some snail hiding spots. It can be special in the aquarium to be free of sharp edges.
Step 4
Introduce snails into the aquarium. Spray the entire tank with water several times a day. Ordinary sprayers are suitable for this. Bathe your snails in cool water two or three times a week, or even running water.
Step 5
Snails' food should mainly consist of fruits, vegetables, herbs. Never feed your snails with salt or salty food as it can kill them. There must be calcium-containing foods in the aquarium. This can be chalk, shellfish (you can buy them at pet stores), or egg shells.
Step 6
Clean up the aquarium regularly, add water, renew the soil (be sure to check for insects) and shavings.
Step 7
Each snail can produce up to 90,000 eggs per year. The mortality rate will be about 30%. Eggs do not require much maintenance, just be careful when cleaning the aquarium.
