According to scientists, parrots of the following species show the greatest talents for onomatopoeia: gray, macaw, Amazons, cockatoos and budgerigars (especially males). Although there may be silent among them, in general, these birds are sociable and easily adopt a variety of sounds (doorbell signal, mobile melody, alarm clock ringing, etc.). You can channel the talents of the feathered friend in a certain direction and teach the parrot to sing.
It is necessary
- - a device for playing audio recordings;
- - a treat for reward.
Instructions
Step 1
Teaching a parrot to sing should be started when it gets used to its new home and owners. It is best if the bird will sit on your arm or shoulder without fear. Treat your parrot as kindly as possible and do not punish it if it does not show zeal for learning. The success of any training is patience, persistence, and repetition. Lessons should be held at certain times of the day, preferably in the morning. If there are several birds in the house, before training the parrot must be placed in the next room so that nothing interferes with it.
Step 2
The easiest way to teach a parrot to sing is to turn on an audio recording with the selected melody. The interval between repetitions should be 10-15 seconds. You can also use recordings of the singing of other birds, for example, a nightingale. Make sure that the recording is of high quality, as some birds masterfully reproduce all the sounds they hear, including noises. If you train a parrot 3-4 times a day, he will learn to whistle and rather complex melodies. In this case, the lesson should last at least 40 minutes. When the lesson comes to an end, add food to the parrot and place the cage in its usual place.
Step 3
If you decide to teach yourself, sit in front of the cage or put the parrot on your arm and begin to whistle the chosen tune or hum the words of a song. In the second case, the training will last longer, because parrots learn to play melodies without words much easier and faster than singing with words. Human speech is difficult for birds, but regular lessons will help overcome the "language barrier". Always hum in the same way, clearly and evenly. Don't force the parrot to learn the whole song at once: when he has mastered the first verse, move on to the next. Remember to reward your parrot with treats if it is making progress.
