It is known that most parrot breeds, including the most common budgerigars and cockatiels, are able to imitate the voices of animals and humans. Naturally, their owners are interested in how to teach a parrot to talk.
Instructions
Step 1
Individual abilities of birds may differ, and therefore the ability to learn to talk in budgies, cockatiels and pets of other breeds is different. Some grasp everything on the fly, others are more capable of imitating animals, and still others are crazy about noises. Often there are parrots who are unable to speak at all.
Step 2
There is a misconception that parrots-boys learn to talk better, but the abilities of birds do not depend on either age or gender. However, the optimal age for trying to teach a bird to speak is about two months.
Step 3
Many people also mistakenly believe that the bird cage should be covered with a dark cloth during training, but this should not be done. Under the veil, the parrot may not listen to what you say to him or even fall asleep.
Step 4
It is believed that it is impossible to teach a bird that has already communicated with its relatives to speak. However, this is also a misconception, because almost any parrot heard the voices of birds before entering your family. But you shouldn't train two pets at the same time.
Step 5
One person should teach the parrot new words. The bird should know its owner, trust him, spend a lot of time with him. It is not worth starting studies if the budgerigar or cockatiel has not yet sat on the teacher's hand. It is desirable that a woman or a child be engaged in training, since I do not perceive the low voice of a bird well. Pronounce all the words to the parrot several times during the lesson in a loud, distinct, slow, even voice.
Step 6
Birds love weasel just like other animals. Therefore, at the first successes of the parrot, you need to praise and give him his favorite delicacies, and in case of failures, do not swear or offend the student. Do not say bad words in front of your pet, because it is possible that he will remember them.
Step 7
During training, try to isolate the bird from extraneous noise and other animals, this will allow the parrot not to be distracted and only listen to your speech.
Step 8
By the behavior of the bird, you can determine whether it is listening to you. If you see that the parrot blinks frequently, opens its beak, tries to imitate sounds, then this means that you have captured his attention.
Step 9
To teach your parrot to talk, you should do daily activities. Practice with the bird at the same time in the morning before breakfast and in the evening before bed for about 10 minutes. Sometimes longer lessons can be done to reinforce the material. In order for the bird to develop, after mastering the necessary phrases, you need to continue to practice with it at least a couple of times a week.
Step 10
The first words of a parrot must consist of a couple of syllables. They must contain vowel sounds "o" and "a", consonants - "p", "p", "k", "t". Learn 2-4 words a week.
Step 11
The first thing budgies and cockatiels are usually taught is to say their name. All words should be pronounced to the place, and therefore training should help the bird associate certain sounds with what is happening. For example, after the word "eat" you can add new food to the bird, say "hello" in the morning, and say goodbye before going to bed.
