More than two hundred different breeds of rabbits are currently known. More than sixty of them are grown in Russia. Of the entire list of rabbit breeds, most of them are decorative. To determine which breed a rabbit belongs to, you need to pay attention to features such as the size and shape of the ears, color, coat, weight and height of the pet.

Step 1
The short-haired dwarf rabbit is considered the main dwarf form. Its weight ranges from 1 to 1.5 kg. The length of the ears does not exceed 5.5 cm. The main shades of the breed: blue, orange, yellow, chinchilla, hare, brown, grayish blue. Short-haired dwarf rabbits differ from other breeds by a short, strong body, dense rear part, very short legs and neck. Their coat is short and glossy.
Step 2
The most popular color is the white Oto rabbit with a spot of black around the eye. This specimen represents the highest achievement of decorative rabbit breeding - breeding white, without a single black hair, rabbits. The spot around the eye should not have protrusions and be interrupted. Dwarf Dutch rabbits have, in addition to the ring around the eye, marked back of the body and ears, and on the hind legs - white "stockings".

The Angora dwarf rabbit has long fur all over its body, except for the head. It can be shiny and smooth and reach 3-5 cm in length, or it can be a real Angora, reminiscent of cotton wool. This rabbit is very beautiful, its fur requires careful care. Dwarf fox rabbits weigh from 800 to 1.5 kg. Their hair is long throughout the body, and the head is smooth. These animals, in contrast to the Angora breed, have strong and thick hair, ranging in length from 3, 5 to 7 cm and more. It seems that the body of the animal is covered with a long cloak.

The representative of the Angora lion breed has a very long coat all over the body, and sometimes on the ears. However, the fur on the muzzle is short. The hair that covers the eyes of the animal is cut with scissors. The lion's head rabbit is very beautiful. As the name suggests, they resemble tiny lions. The mane on the muzzle visually makes the head look larger. The coat is short throughout the body, but there are varieties with long hair that covers only the sides.
Step 5
Of all the breeds, the most tame are the fold-eared rabbits. They are somewhat larger than their dwarf relatives and weigh from 1.5 to 3 kg. The color can be any. These rabbits are very fertile, up to 6 rabbits appear in their litter. The pygmy hare has white fur and red eyes. The muzzle, tail, ears and limbs can be blue, black or brown. After birth, the drawing in a hare does not appear immediately.
