Collecting is horseback riding in which the horse is in a state of highest concentration, in which all of its muscles are ready to go into action. In order for the horse to walk easily in collection, it is necessary to train it. This can be done as follows:
Instructions
Step 1
Collecting is a very demanding exercise, so start your training with simpler exercises: teach your horse to run freely with the neck extended and the head lowered. This exercise is also called "down and forward". Add momentum while maintaining balance and rhythm. Observe how the horse brings the hindquarters and raises the back of the head, that is, goes into a state close to collection.
Step 2
When teaching collection, the main thing is not appearance, but inner concentration. You should, as it were, form a single whole with the horse, and it should ideally respond to your commands. Do a few sessions in a small space, run, turn around, stop, make the horse obey you.
Step 3
Once the horse has memorized a few basic commands, start working on relaxation while trotting. Praise good things during class. If the horse does something wrong, do not say anything or scold him. Sooner or later she will understand what you want from her. If the horse has lowered its head, praise it.
Step 4
After teaching the horse to be relaxed, gradually move on to collecting. Change the emphasis in handling the horse, now praise him for energetic movements, in which he does not lose rhythm. Teach her to get free, and then on the lane.
Step 5
Once you give your horse the freedom to move and get the message back, start working on the rein. The message should be light at first. It is necessary to ensure that the animal calmly and evenly maintains a uniform tension. A rounded neck does not mean collection for all horses, because each has its own characteristics.
Step 6
The main opponents of collection are the horse's nervousness and unwillingness to go forward. The reason for this may be overly intense training, the wrong iron, too much tension on the reins. Be patient, hard hard work will give you the results you need.
