If you bought an aquarium to start your fish at home, or are just going to buy one, think about where it will stand. It will be nice to buy a stand for the aquarium first. There will be an aquarium on it, and it will store food and items necessary for fish. But is it worth spending money on a bedside table? Try to make it yourself from what is at hand.
Instructions
Step 1
Chipboard (particle board). Fortunately, it is not difficult to find it. Take a countertop from an old kitchen cabinet, doors and a shelf from an old cabinet, wooden blocks and putty, nitro paint. Prepare the following tools: hand-held circular saw, hacksaw, drill with drills, sandpaper, several screws.
Step 2
The shelf from the old cabinet will be the top of your new nightstand. The laminate from the cabinet doors will go to the sides and the front of the cabinet. The base of the cabinet will be a piece of chipboard from the table top. In order for the bedside table to be stable, the base must be made wide. Based on the approximate height of the curbstone of 65 cm, select such dimensions of the base so that the curbstone you have stood, as they say, monolithic. All parts are cut from workpieces using a hand-held circular saw. A hacksaw may come in handy here and there.
Step 3
Fasten the cabinet walls, top, bottom and front sides together with the help of screws screwed into the blocks. After fastening all the components of the curbstone, sand its surface with sandpaper, then apply a special putty on wood. Apply one coat first, then sand the surface again, followed by a second coat of putty.
Step 4
Then all this must be left to dry for about a day. After final drying, the bedside table must be again cleaned with sandpaper, then blown with a stream of air (preferably) or dust off with a wide brush or cloth.
Step 5
The curbstone is now ready for painting. Take nitro paint and apply on the surface of the cabinet in two layers. The work on the manufacture of the cabinet for the aquarium will take you about two days, together with the drying of the paint and putty.
