It is believed that almost all snakes are venomous, but in fact, of the 2,200 species of these reptiles, only 270 have venom. Some are not very dangerous and can cause only slight poisoning, while others can kill a person in a few minutes.
Black Mamba
The famous black mamba is one of the most venomous snakes on the planet. It lives in Africa, it is a large, up to three meters long reptile with a dirty olive or gray color. The creature's venom contains several types of fast-acting toxins, including dendrotoxins, calciseptins, and neutotoxins. One snake bite leads to the fact that more than 100 milligrams of poison (sometimes up to 400!) Enter the human body, and the lethal dose is only about ten milligrams. If the antidote is not introduced immediately, then death is inevitable - not a single case of survival has been recorded. As a rule, a person dies within an hour if he is bitten on the heel, and a bite in the face is even more dangerous - due to paralysis, death occurs in ten minutes.
The black mamba is not only poisonous, but also aggressive: the snake often attacks first, which increases its danger. She does not wait in ambush, like many other reptiles, but pursues a victim, including chasing a person. The snake boasts a high speed of up to 20 kilometers per hour.
Taipans
A genus of snakes called taipans are also extremely poisonous. The bites of these snakes cause respiratory paralysis due to the action of neurotoxins, and other substances in the composition of the poison disrupt the clotting of human blood. A person dies from a bite of a taipan longer than after meeting with a black mamba - about four to five hours, in some cases up to twelve (unless, of course, serum is injected).
One of the representatives of the Taipan clan - a cruel snake - is considered the most poisonous of the land snakes due to the high concentration of toxic substances in its venom. The amount of poison injected into the human body in one bite is enough to kill a hundred people. But, unlike other types of taipans, this snake is not so aggressive - it bites only if you handle it carelessly. Common taipan, with less strong poison, is considered more dangerous, as it has a high speed, large size and aggressive character.
Malay krait
Malay krait from the genus of krait does not have such a strong poison as taipans or black mamba, but it is dangerous due to the fact that there is no antidote against it. The serum does not act on the venom of these snakes, so a person dies after being bitten - on average, 6-12 hours later. Neurotoxins instantly affect the human brain and cause paralysis, but sometimes death occurs without paralytic symptoms. Fortunately, this is a nocturnal snake species, so there are not very many cases of bites.
