Quails grow quite quickly: being born weighing 6 g, the chick's weight increases 15 times in a month. In just two months, the bird has the weight of an adult. Therefore, it is so important to be able to properly prepare quail feed.

Step 1
The health of quails, therefore, the taste of their eggs and meat, directly depends on the quality of the feed. It should contain all vital nutrients, vitamins, trace elements. It is best to prepare compound feed for these birds. From the purchased ready-made feed, PK5 and PK6 are suitable, which are used for growing broilers. These mixtures can be fed to quails starting at 6 weeks of age.
Step 2
Self-prepared compound feed can be used raw (freshly prepared) or dry. The amount of feed is calculated based on the most balanced diet for one bird: 12 g of oatmeal, barley or millet; 12 g of cottage cheese (minced meat or fish; 3 g of chalk or eggshell; 0.5 g of milk powder or sunflower oil.
Step 3
Having calculated how many of the listed ingredients are needed for the entire poultry population, cereals and other substances are mixed with finely chopped cabbage, nettles, salad or any other greens. Such compound feed is given to both chicks and adult birds. One quail will need 25-40 g of food per day. Carrots, beets, apples are used as vitamin supplements.
Step 4
Experienced breeders determine the quality of compound feed by smell. It should be rich, fresh, without any mustiness or acidity. To facilitate labor, you will need a scale, a granulator, a feed mixer, a grain crusher. A concrete mixer can be used to mix the ingredients.
Step 5
It is more convenient to prepare compound feed as follows: measure and weigh the feedstock; protein components, greens, grain are sent to the grain crusher; crushed feed is put into a mixer wagon and vitamins and microelements are added. The feed can be fed to the bird immediately after preparation or processed in a pelletizer for further storage. You should be aware that feed consumption increases with the length of daylight hours.

If it is not possible to prepare compound feed, the quails are given a feed mixture. It should contain 4 main components: protein, grain, vitamins, minerals. For chicks and adult birds, the following products are suitable: fish or bone meal, fresh or boiled fish, cottage cheese, any minced meat, earth and meal worms, ant pupae, blood of a slaughtered bird. From cereals, you can use crushed wheat, rye, oats. From cereals - millet, rice, barley, wheat. If you plan to feed fresh fish, you need to make sure that it is not infested with parasites. If there is no such confidence, it is recommended to cook the fish.
