Instructions
Step 1
Simultaneously with the purchase of a rabbit, you need to take care of purchasing a cage. It is preferable that the cage is large so that the pet does not experience difficulties in movement. In an adult animal, the cage must have a plastic tray; cages with a slatted bottom are not acceptable, since the pads on the rabbit's feet are not designed for such a floor. Do not place the cage in a draft or near a battery.
Step 2
Use straw or sawdust as bedding in the cage. Equip the cage with a feeding bowl and a mounted automatic drinker designed for rodents, which has a metal tube with a ball. The bottom of the bowl should be wide and heavy to prevent the pet from turning it over. You can choose a hinged metal feeder, the stand is mounted in the grid, and the bowl itself is easily removed for filling with food.
Step 3
The main food for the rabbit is compound feed and hay, add oatmeal to the diet. You can use special formula for young rabbits for feeding, which are sold at the pet store. Introduce new feeds into the animal's diet gradually, mixing with the old one. But keep in mind that there should always be hay in the feeder. Water can be given settled, filtered or regular from the tap. Boiled water is low in oxygen, minerals and calcium, and bottled water is rich in salts, so it can cause urolithiasis in a rabbit.
Step 4
If the rabbit is still very young, gradually train it to fruits, vegetables and green grass. Start with apples and carrots and should be fed to rabbits at least four months old. Be sure to put a red-brown mineral stone in the cage. In the event of a lack of minerals, the pet will be able to replenish them thanks to the stone.
Step 5
Take your rabbit out for a walk every day. If the animal lives at home, then remove unnecessary objects and wires from the floor, otherwise the pet may take them for tree roots or branches, and begin to gnaw. To sharpen your rabbit's teeth, place a branch of a fruit tree or a piece of chalk in the cage. This animal is very clean, when growing up, they begin to go to the toilet in one place. Over time, you can teach him to do this in a cat litter box.
Step 6
Never give your pet moldy food, the hay should have a pleasant smell of dry grass or pharmaceutical herbs. Your rabbit should always have dry bedding, which should be changed at least twice a week. Wet and dirty bedding can cause stomach problems in the animal. Change the tray daily.
