Rottweilers have long served people as guards and protectors. In everyday life, these are calm dogs, attached to people, but requiring serious education and training.
Instructions
Step 1
In general, the dog is of medium height and dense build. At the same time, it should create the impression of strength and endurance, and not sluggishness and weight. The Rottweiler is a very proportional animal. The color of a Rottweiler depends on the concentration of the brown pigment melanin. Therefore, the color of the coat can vary from black to red. The undercoat is invisible on external examination, the main hair is straight and has a length of about 1 cm.
Step 2
Rottweiler head
The Rottweiler skull is normally medium in length. The frontal part is moderately protruding, the transition from the muzzle to the forehead is clearly visible. Viewed from above and from the front, the Rottweiler's head is shaped like an equilateral triangle with cut corners.
Step 3
The dog's muzzle is wide at the base and tapering at the tip of the nose. The wide nose is black, the nostrils are large. Lips and gums should normally be dark in color, with no imperfections in pigmentation.
Step 4
Rottweiler eyes are medium in size, differing in almond shape. The eye color is dark brown. Hanging ears are triangular in shape, set wide apart and close to the zygomatic bone.
Step 5
The neck is endowed with well-developed muscles and is of medium length. The shape of the neck is slightly curved, reminiscent of a bow. There should be no fatty tissue or skin folds in this area.
Step 6
Rottweiler torso and limbs
The length of the animal's body from the sternum to the ischial tubercle, on average, reaches 75 cm in males and 70 cm in bitches. Height at withers: 61-68 cm in males, 56-63 cm in bitches. The weight of an adult Rottweiler is about 50 kg in males and 42 kg in bitches.
Step 7
The Rottweiler's back is straight, muscular and strong. The back is one of the strong points of this breed, its correct development endows the animal with enviable physical endurance.
Step 8
The croup is ideally rounded, depending on the angle of inclination of the pelvic bones to the sacrum. Irregular croup shapes are sloping and straight.
Step 9
The tail is naturally long and is a harmonious continuation of the body. Previously, the tail of this breed was usually docked, which is sometimes done even now, leaving 1-2 vertebrae of the tail section.
Step 10
The chest is wide and deep, about 50% of the dog's height. The muscles and bones of the chest are well developed. The forelimbs are normally straight, strong, fairly widely spaced from each other.
Step 11
The hind limbs should normally also be straight and even. They are somewhat longer than the front ones. The thigh of the dog is wide and rather long, has prominent muscles.
