Jungle cats are noticeably different from ordinary domestic cats. Their main distinguishing feature is their enormous size. Individuals living at home weigh up to 12 kg, and those who live in the wild - up to 18 kg. The body length of this predator varies from 55 to 95 cm. At the withers, these animals reach 50 cm in height. By the laws of nature, females are slightly smaller than males.

The main color of the coat of jungle cats is gray-brown with an olive (or red) tint. The sides of these creatures are lighter, and the tail is darker than the whole body. It should be noted that this color is quite rare in ordinary domestic cats. Some jungle cats have a yellowish-gray or gray-brown coat without any stripes. Sometimes a slight red tint can be observed on their fur. In general, the color of the coat of jungle cats depends on their habitat. By the way, their summer fur is more rare and coarse than winter fur.

In nature, these animals are predominantly nocturnal hunters. Their main prey is birds living in thickets of reeds and in swamps, as well as mammals in the form of hares and ground squirrels. These predators also do not disdain small pigs. The lifespan of jungle cats, like ordinary cats, is up to 15 years. Adults can meow like domestic cats, but a little more bass. Kittens, on the other hand, snort and hiss.

Male and female mate in February-March. This is followed by a whole feline concert. Females carry future offspring for about two months. Already in May they bring up to 5 kittens. After 1, 5 years, these kittens become sexually mature. Jungle cats during the mating period can pose a threat to human health!
