Adult cats are more resigned to the appearance of a kitten than an adult animal. In a cat, spayed or not, maternal instinct can wake up, and she will gladly take care of the baby. Neutered cats are phlegmatic, therefore, the appearance of a kitten in the house can be taken calmly, but without enthusiasm, and express their displeasure if the baby demands attention. If you are taking a male kitten, and there is a non-neutered cat in the house, he may not immediately accept the baby. Such cats do not tolerate competition. Therefore, constant fights and other unpleasant manifestations of protest may arise (puddles in the wrong places, and so on).
Step 2
If you have brought an adult animal into the house, get ready for the fact that for a while it will become a battlefield. There are breeds that are loyal to other animals (British, Persian). But for the most part, cats single-handedly prefer to own the attention of the owner and their territory.
Step 3
Cats identify friends and foes by smell. And here you have to go for the trick. Place a towel under your cat to sleep on for a few days. Then wrap the kitten in this towel. The cat will be sure to sniff the new pet and recognize the familiar smell.
Step 4
Feeding is another way to introduce cats. Place the bowls side by side at a short distance. Always feed the animals together. Move the bowls closer and closer gradually so that they are together. Cats will have no choice but to eat food side by side, and then lick themselves. At this moment, a mutual "wash" can also occur. And this is already one of the steps towards reconciliation.
Step 5
Always stop fights. If you see that an adult cat offends the baby, explain to her that this should not be done. She probably already knows your forbidding intonation of voice. But in no case should you beat. So you can only turn her against the kitten even more. But, in turn, do not allow him to pester a potential dad or mom. Distract him, or rather play with him yourself.
Step 6
Do not give one animal more time and affection than another. If you pet one cat, pet the other immediately. Felines are very jealous - they strive to be the only love for the owner.
