As a rule, the choice of a nickname is based on several characteristic criteria. It must be sonorous enough for the animal to be able to distinguish it in the general speech stream. If a kitten is taken from a breeder, a nickname can be given to him in accordance with the pedigree, in which case it can be long and consist of several words. But you should not be upset - no matter what such a nickname is, you can always shorten it using a diminutive version for home use.

Unlike dogs, cats can be given human names. But in this case, for reasons of ease of perception and in order to avoid confusion, it is better to use rare, old names: Glasha, Roxana, Evdokia. Cats remember their own names faster and better if they contain sounds: "s", "w", "f".

Cats that will live in the courtyard of a private house and “walk on their own” should not be given any special name, with such a nickname they will look rather ridiculous. In this case, the usual ones are quite suitable: Musya, Murka, Lucy, Pushha or Glafira. It makes sense to choose a beautiful name when it is a purebred kitten, fully aware of its exclusivity and status. When choosing a beautiful name, you can play with the external data of your cat, her breed or her character traits. So, for example, by the color of her coat, you can pick up a name, using as a basis foreign words denoting this color: Blackie, Blanca, Smokki, Gracie. If we focus on the breed, the words of the language spoken in the country of origin of this breed can be taken as the basis for the name. So, British and Scottish cats can be called sonorous English names, and Oriental, Siamese and Thai cats - Japanese and Oriental. Sphinxes, of course, some Egyptian names are suitable: Isis, Anubis, Astarte, Cleopatra, which, however, most likely, will later turn into simply Klepoy.

Not a bad field for imagination - geographical names, for example, Klaipeda or Missouri, but you can find a name in any region, even Klemma will sound beautiful. Be that as it may, the nickname should first be checked for sound and how it will take root. If it doesn't fit, you can always change it, but try to keep no more than one or two such renames.
