How to deal with plant allergies?

Plant allergy is a seasonal disease, and very often it has a negative effect on the upper and lower respiratory tract, digestive and nervous systems, mucous membranes of the nose and eyes. During the period of active flowering of some plants, their pollen is concentrated in the air and, when inhaled, enters the respiratory tract of a person, causing allergies.

Symptoms of allergic reactions to plants

When an allergy to plant pollen occurs, people experience itching in the nose, runny nose, sneezing, watery eyes, redness of the eyelids, itching and rashes on the skin. More severe symptoms of this type of disease are manifested in respiratory failure, a feeling of lack of oxygen, and coughing. Such phenomena can lead to the appearance of dermatitis, rhinitis, conjunctivitis, bronchial asthma.

Plant allergy treatment

Treatment of the disease is carried out with various antiallergic drugs, for example, such as Suprastin, Fenistil, Dibazol, Loratadin and many others.

Antihistamines have been divided into several categories, which differ in price and effect on a person. So, the first category includes "Suprastin" and "Tavegil": they cause drowsiness and depress the nervous system, are incompatible with alcohol and have many side effects. Contraindicated for pregnant women and those people whose activities are related to driving a car and require special concentration of attention.

The drugs of the second and third categories include more modern drugs, for example, "Fenistil", "Kloratodin", "Loratadin", "Erius", "Zyrtec". Their effect on the body is more gentle: they do not inhibit human reactions, do not cause drowsiness, act quickly, the effect lasts for a day, and are compatible with alcohol. Even pregnant women and small children can take them.

Preventive measures can be taken to avoid allergies and pills. Since the concentration of pollen in the air is highest in the morning, you should try to go outside as little as possible at this time, avoid clusters of flowering plants, do wet cleaning at home every day and ventilate the room in the evening and at night. Do not use herbal cosmetics. When going outside, try to wear sunglasses, and when you get home, rinse your nose and eyes with water.

Plant allergies are seasonal and can last from a couple of weeks to several months. Always carry antihistamines with you.
