Most dog breeders are faced with the appearance of tartar in their pets. Especially often the bases of the teeth of small decorative rocks, which have very narrow interdental spaces, are covered with a yellow-brown mineralized plaque. The only way to prevent this trouble is to accustom your puppy to regular jaw hygiene. If the stone is still formed, it must be removed, otherwise the dog will face a whole range of problems: from an unpleasant odor, loss of appetite to tooth loss.

- - Toothpaste (or a mixture of chalk, soda and lemon juice);
- - brush for dogs;
- - professional teeth cleaning.
Instructions
Step 1
Ask a helper to hold the pet and assess the condition of its jaw. To do this, you need to pull the skin from different sides of the mouth and examine individual areas. Focus on the upper jaw, posterior row of teeth, and canines, where tartar is most common in dogs.
Step 2
Brush your dog's teeth as they can be dealt with early in the formation of soft plaque with normal hygiene measures. Some breeders make their own cleanser using crushed white chalk, baking soda, and lemon juice. It is quite effective, but your pet may not like it.
Step 3
It is recommended to purchase a special toothpaste at the pet store - it imitates the aroma and taste pleasant for dogs. Before brushing, place a small amount on your finger and lubricate the animal's gums.
Step 4
Apply the paste to a large brush (preferably one for dogs) and, holding it at a 45-degree angle, start brushing your dog's teeth. Brush the inner, outer and chewing parts a dozen times per tooth. In no case do not move across the dental axis, otherwise you will transfer contamination to the entire jaw.
Step 5
Examine the dog's teeth again. If you cannot remove the dark plaque yourself, you will have to contact your veterinarian or professional groomer (pet care specialist). Traditionally, this operation is performed under anesthesia, removing mineralized plaque mechanically with dental instruments. Then the stone is treated with ultrasound and polished with special pastes. Before the procedure, be sure to go through the necessary medical examination, laboratory tests and preparation before anesthesia (fasting diet for 12 hours).
Step 6
If anesthesia for a pet is contraindicated for one reason or another, it is recommended to do with professional cleaning of dental calculus using ultrasound. Call reputable groomers and veterinarians. Modern clinics offer similar services in their office or go to the client's home.
