A dog's pedigree is a special document that confirms its origin. That is, he gives information about who her parents and grandparents were. The pedigree does not provide data on the qualities or any distinctive characteristics of the dog, it only confirms that the dog is purebred.
Getting a pedigree
You can get this document from one of the cynological organizations. In order to issue a pedigree, it is necessary that certain conditions are met: the parents of the puppy must have a pedigree from the organization to which the breeding permit belongs; mating of dogs must be planned, that is, recorded in a special document; based on this data, the dog is given a metric. This document will soon be replaced by a pedigree. On the 45th day of a puppy's life, it is checked by dog handlers for compliance with the breed, etc. Then the pedigree is already issued.
When purchasing a puppy, a metric is issued. You should pay special attention to this document, make sure that it contains all the necessary data: information about the organization that issued the metric; the signatures of the breeder and the employee of the canine organization who issued the metric; information about the seller of the puppy; information about the puppy itself (breed, coat color, date of birth and nickname).
Pedigrees have a single pattern. The finished document can be divided into three parts: information about the dog: name, breed, type of wool, color, sex, date of birth, brand number; information about the breeder: full name, address of residence; father's family tree; family tree of the mother.
Using the pedigree, you can find out about all the ancestors of the pet. This document also lists the various championship titles and data from the various tests performed. If any data is not indicated in the pedigree, then it is considered incomplete.
Some dog owners believe that a veterinary passport obtained from a veterinary clinic is the same as a pedigree, but this is not true. Such a document has nothing to do with the pedigree. It contains only information about the medical examinations of the pet. A pedigree can also be purchased for money, but of course it will no longer be a genuine document.
Why do you need a pedigree?
It is up to the owner of the dog to draw up a pedigree or not. If, nevertheless, the dog is really purebred, then the presence of a pedigree will not hurt anyone: someday it will definitely come in handy. Especially if the breeder wants his pet to become a successful dog participating in exhibitions and having good healthy offspring. Well, if they give birth to a puppy only for themselves, so that a faithful four-legged friend is nearby, then it is not at all necessary to draw up a document, because all the good qualities of a pet will not change from this.
