Everyone knows that a cat's health is directly dependent on its nutrition. Having made the decision to take a pet into the family, you need to be prepared for the fact that certain expenses will be required on the appropriate food for the pet.
And now the kitten is at your home and a natural question arises: how to feed your pet?
Dry food
Like food for humans, dry food is divided into categories:
- Premium class. Such feeds are made from natural meat and cereals, they contain vitamins and microelements necessary for the animal. Dyes and flavorings are not added to such feeds, therefore, when switching to this feed from a cheaper one, the cat may refuse it at first. Naturally, such feed cannot be cheap.
- Middle class. These are feeds with a lower price, they usually contain by-products, possibly the presence of flavoring additives.
-
Economy class feed. The composition of such feed contains a fairly large amount of chemical additives, flavorings and dyes. Long-term use of such food by a cat can lead to kidney disease, liver disease and urolithiasis in the pet.
Canned (wet) food
Suitable for all cats, but it is still better to alternate it with dry food and do not forget to monitor the expiration date. Opened packaging is stored in the refrigerator for no more than a day.
Natural food
Speaking of natural, we do not mean food taken from the human table. It is strictly forbidden to feed cats with such food. To prepare food for a cat, you need to be guided by the rule: 1: 2, that is, one part is cereal (rice or buckwheat) and two parts of meat (beef, chicken, offal). Salting cat food is not recommended.
Low-fat dairy products must be present in the animal's diet.
Fish is not the most useful product for cats, it can be given no more than 1 time a week, after boiling and removing the bones.
