Matter of habit
Although the budgerigar is a small bird, the largest representatives of birds can envy its stubbornness. If your Kesha has already decided that he will eat exclusively millet, you can break yourself into a cake, offering him other types of food, but you will not get any effect. However, this does not mean that parrots like to peck only one thing. It's just that your specimen is accustomed to a particular treat and, most likely, does not even know how many delicacies still exist in the world.
That is why remember - your budgie must be accustomed to any type of food (healthy or tasty). It may happen that he will happily take up the new treat offered, but if this does not happen, be persistent. If you put a new kind of delicacy in the corner of the trough with the usual food, sooner or later the little experimenter will become interested and try it. What if you like it?
Summer vitamins
Parrots are very fond of greens and fresh fruits or vegetables. A delicacy in the form of ripe berries is also taken with great pleasure. In the summer, treat your feathered friend to the luscious starlet grass (popularly also called woodlice). As a rule, the parrot does not have to be persuaded to try this juicy appetizing greens. As soon as they see her, the birds begin to pluck it with concentration. If possible, once a week add small pieces of fruit or berries to the diet of parrots, birds are also very fond of them.
Vegetables are also useful for dietary diversity and as a source of fresh vitamins, but some parrots refuse to eat them. It is better to accustom your feathered pet to a vegetable diet gradually, first offering pieces of sweet vegetables: carrots or beets. And what a delight your parrot will experience at the sight of a fat caterpillar or some insect brought from the street or garden! Parrots willingly eat midges, wax moths, fruit flies, as well as small crickets and flies.
Winter goodies
When you need to take care of tasty and healthy food for your parrots, it is in winter. You can feed your pet sprouted food or even grow herbs for him in a separate container. For these purposes, both components of grain feed and ordinary seeds of oats, catnip, hemp or wheat are suitable. Cat grass, which is already germinated at pet stores, is also suitable.
