A truly caring and responsible cat owner has probably had to transport the animal more than once. Scheduled and emergency visits to the veterinarian, trips to the dacha, exhibition or mating - but you never know what may be the reasons to take your pet out of the house. Of course, you can carry the cat in your arms or in a sports bag, but the most convenient way is to use a special carrier.

Step 1
Decide for what purpose you will use the carrier before you go to the store to choose it. For example, if you need a cat carrier in order to fly somewhere by plane with your pet, then choose a fairly light and compact model from the range of these products. In order to be able to take a carrier with an animal with you to the cabin of an airliner as hand luggage, its length, width and height must not exceed certain values, which in total usually do not exceed 115 cm. If the carrier for a cat is intended for you could take their animal on a joint trip by car, it is better to purchase a more spacious model in which it will be comfortable. If you are planning a long trip, for example, by rail, choose a carrier that, in addition to a cat, will also fit a tray and a bowl of water.
Step 2
Pay close attention to the design of your cat carrier. First of all, give your preference to those models that have a solid, impenetrable bottom - the animal will feel much more confident if there is some kind of "hard floor" under its paws. Also, carefully consider all the locks and especially the places where the handles are attached to the carrying case - these are the weak points of many models. You don't want the carrier with your pet to come off the handles and hit the ground, scaring your pet to death? Better play it safe and choose a more expensive and reliable model, and then the transportation of the cat will not be accompanied by unnecessary stress for the animal.

For the same reason, choose more reliable models made of durable plastic that will reliably protect your pet. In general, rigid plastic cat carriers are preferred over wicker baskets and especially cloth carriers. It is important that the walls have viewing holes and at the same time be strong, so that the animal feels safe and has the opportunity to see what is happening around him.
Step 4
Keep in mind that the carrier you purchased may simply not be to your pet's liking. Despite the fact that high-quality modern cat accessories are made mainly from non-toxic and practically odorless plastic varieties, the cat may categorically refuse to be located inside the carrier. In this case, washing it thoroughly and placing a mat familiar to your pet on the bottom of the carrier should help you.
