Get a special "dog" toothpaste. If not, take baby or tooth powder. Don't use mint paste.

Wash your hands. Place the dog on your lap with its back down. Take a Q-tip. Don't open your dog's mouth, just brush your lips with your fingers. Put some toothpaste on a cotton swab and use it on your pet's teeth. Then wipe off the paste with a damp cloth. If a yellow or brown layer remains after brushing, it is tartar.

Purchase a universal tartar hook from your dentist. Treat it with rubbing alcohol. When the smell disappears, carefully remove the stone with a crochet hook. This should be done from the gum to the edge of the tooth. Be careful not to damage your tooth enamel. Remove excess paste from the cotton swab and brush your pet's teeth with it again. If the gums are bleeding, and if there is tartar, this is quite possible, lubricate them with sea buckthorn oil. You need to brush your dog's teeth at least once a week.
