If you want to have a healthy and well-groomed dog next to you, teach him to hygiene from a very young age. To brush a dog's teeth, it is not at all necessary to constantly seek the help of a professional groomer. Any dog breeder must master this simple procedure, and then his pet will avoid many health breakdowns.
It is necessary
- Dog toothpaste (or a mixture of baking soda, lemon juice, and chalk)
- Toothbrush
- Deep pelvis
- Thimble massage brush
- Peanut butter
- Bandage
Instructions
Step 1
Prepare a toothpaste and brush for your dog's teeth. Your pet will definitely swallow the toothpaste, so do not use a human toothbrush. Buy special dog paste that tastes and smells good for the animal (for example, it mimics meat). It is developed taking into account the composition of the dog's tooth enamel and saliva. Some breeders make their own pasta by mixing white chalk, baking soda, and lemon juice. You can use any toothbrush or buy it at the pet store.
Step 2
Have someone hold the dog or put it in a deep plastic basin so that only the dog's head is outside. Give the dog a taste of some toothpaste and brush some of it on the dog's gums. Now, with two fingers, pull the skin from the side of the jaw from which you are going to start brushing your canine teeth.
Step 3
Divide the dog's upper and lower jaws into three parts - lateral and frontal. Apply the paste to the entire bristle surface of your toothbrush. Hold it at an angle of about 45 degrees to help you clean the base of your teeth. Start cleaning according to a specific pattern, for example:
• the inner surface of the teeth from the left side;
• their outer side;
• chewing part;
• go to the lower jaw and then follow the same cleaning procedure.
Step 4
Do at least 8-10 movements (reciprocating, circular, scraping and sweeping) for each tooth. Only brush your dog's teeth up and down. If you brush along the transverse axis of the teeth, then you will only spread the dirt throughout the jaw. It is necessary to pay more attention to cleaning the teeth of the dog's upper jaw, since it is there that tartar most often forms.
Step 5
Massage your dog's gums to improve blood and lymph circulation. After brushing your teeth, put a special rubber thimble brush on your finger. Go over the gums first with up and down movements, then do a gentle circular massage. You can simply massage your dog's gums with your finger, smearing it with peanut butter. Be sure to encourage your pet to endure this, not too pleasant for him, hygienic procedure.
