As a child, many loved to ask questions about why it is cold in winter, why it rains, why the earth is round, and water does not spill from it, and, of course, received answers to them. After all, most adults know them from the school science course. But to the question of why the rooster crows, many parents did not know the exact answer, therefore they said that this was happening because the rooster was calling the sun to rise. Beautiful and fabulous. But it’s not true. So why is the rooster crowing?
In ancient times, people believed that the rooster was a creature of almost divine origin and therefore considered it a sacred animal, the use of which was strictly prohibited. It was believed that the rooster is in some way connected with the great deity, the Sun, and heralds the coming of a new day at his will. But after centuries, the role of the rooster faded into the background, and they stopped reading it long ago, but the question of why he crows remained. It turns out that everything is very commonplace and he has several reasons for this. Firstly, the rooster is a bird with a very arrogant character and, giving a "battle cry", he, as it were, throws a challenge to the surrounding roosters, to which they, of course, immediately respond. It is known that roosters hear each other at a fairly large distance, thanks to this they can understand what territory the rooster occupies, the cry of which they hear. To invade someone else's territory is more than unreasonable. One has only to remember the famous cockfighting and it becomes clear that the roosters are fighting for life and death. Therefore, the crowing of a rooster is a territorial acoustic signal that is common in the environment of birds (especially wild birds). In addition, with its loud and sonorous crowing, the rooster attracts chickens. Scientists have found that each such cry is unique and each such individual has a cry that is unique to other relatives. So we can say that crowing, different roosters compete with each other in vocal abilities, and the prize is very, very valuable - the love and recognition of the chickens. If you have ever rested in the village and woke up with a rooster crow, you probably noticed that a rooster crows always strictly according to the schedule (the deviation in time may be quite insignificant). Of course, a rooster, like many other animals, and, of course, a person, lives in accordance with certain biorhythms. These biorhythms, acting on the central nervous system, induce the animal to take certain actions - sleep, wakefulness or eating. There are biorhythms associated with the season, and in this case we are talking about daily biorhythms. So the rooster, waking up, as it should be at a certain time, as the owner of the territory, wakes up with its loud crowing not only the chicken coop and the owners who want to sleep a little longer, but also the roosters of the nearby territories, confirming once again its inalienable and not taken away by other relatives of the right to its territory.
