Munchkin is a cat breed, the main distinguishing feature of which is the appearance of its representatives. These cats can be compared to dachshunds. Animals have a similar paw structure. This breed appeared quite by accident.
The history of the emergence of the breed
Nobody took the Munchkins out on purpose. Kittens with disrupted skeletal structure periodically appeared in the offspring of ordinary cats. Most of these cases took place in the United States and Germany. Unusual animals immediately attracted attention, and gradually they began to be deliberately bred. Now munchkins are one of the most expensive and popular cats.
It is noteworthy that a stray cat was registered as the first munchkin. It was she who became the so-called founder of the breed. At the moment, there are a huge number of varieties of munchkins - there are cats with long or short hair, monochromatic and multi-colored, with fluffy and smooth-haired tails.
Appearance and habits
Outwardly, munchkins differ from ordinary cats only in the structure of their paws. Head sizes, body proportions - everything is in a standard shape. The exception is short legs.
The behavior and habits of munchkins are unique. These cats, due to the characteristics of their bodies, do not differ in flexibility and speed. They are slow, even clumsy, and move by "ferret technique" - fast and very small steps.
Munchkin's habits will make everyone smile. The fact is that a munchkin is a very low cat, for viewing the territory or some specific object, the animals sit on their hind legs, stretch their front limbs along the body, and create support with the help of the tail. For this habit, the Germans even nicknamed the Munchkins "kangaroo cat".
