A chicken coop is a room for raising chickens and receiving eggs from them. Chicken coops are necessary for the bird to feel comfortable both in winter and in summer. The main devices that are needed in a chicken coop are: a roost on which chickens will rest at night; nests for chickens to lay eggs there; walking area (summer and winter). In addition, the main advantage is the warmth in the hen house in winter, which is necessary for the chickens to grow and lay eggs all year round.
It is necessary
- - shingles (thin wooden planks - 2 cm by 0.2 cm);
- - nails 2 cm long;
- - a hammer;
- - clay;
- - a container for mixing clay;
- - sawdust.
Instructions
Step 1
In our area, the climate is quite harsh, in winter there are frosts down to -30 degrees. And building a small room for chickens and with thin walls, like pigeons, is rather impractical. In severe frosts in chickens, as a rule, the scallops freeze and begin to die off, as a result, the birds get sick and lose their egg production. To prevent this from happening, insulate your chicken coop. Cover the walls with shingles. To do this, nail the shingles to the walls of the hen house obliquely, at an angle of 45 degrees. First, do it in one direction, then, crossing the shingles, in the other. So beat all the walls of the hen house. In addition to shingles, goat willow rods can be used.
Step 2
Now prepare a solution of clay with sawdust. To do this, soak the clay and dilute it with water so that a solution is obtained, like liquid sour cream. Add a little sawdust to this solution until it becomes thick and sticky enough. It is better to mix such a clay saw solution in a large container so that the mixture is enough for the entire chicken coop. Now let it stand for a while and "ferment".
Step 3
Start plastering the walls of the chicken coop. Scatter the mortar at the bottom of the wall with large flat cakes. Smooth it out with a plastering trowel. A layer of such insulating plaster should be at least 3-5 centimeters. Try to make the layer even, carefully seal the corners of the room, you can even make roundings there with a solution to make the corners warmer. After completely plastering the chicken coop, let the walls dry, it will take several days. After drying, the solution on the walls will crack a little. Rub the walls and especially cracks with a mixture of clay and sand in a ratio of 1 to 2. Whitewash the walls with quicklime, for this buy lime in granules, pour it into a bucket, pour half a bucket of water. After a minute, lime will begin to react with water, boil and become very hot. After the end of the reaction, dilute the bucket with water, add a spoonful of table salt.
Step 4
Chickens have a tendency to peck at everything, especially in winter with a lack of vitamins, they can peck out the entire lower part of the plaster. To avoid this, cover the wall below to a height of about a meter with a wood board or some kind of plastic. Do not forget to cover also the walls near the perch, up to the place where the chickens can reach with their beaks.
