If you are a novice bird seller or breeder, then perhaps the most difficult process for you will be the process of raising chicks in an artificial environment. No less difficulties await ordinary people who, out of compassion, have picked up a helpless chick in the forest. Therefore, please be patient: after all, you have more than one sleepless night ahead.
Instructions
Step 1
Set up a warm, dry place or even a room, depending on how many chicks you plan to raise. A heating pad and soft bedding will be enough for one chick to stay warm.
Step 2
Make sure that the room has a normal humidity level, good ventilation. The air temperature must be at least 36-38 ° C. As the chicks mature, the temperature can be gradually reduced.
Step 3
To prevent your chicks from getting sick, be sure to process the inventory and the room with a blowtorch. If you are the owner of a poultry farm, then be sure to fence a small pasture for young animals with a netting near the poultry house.
Step 4
Feed the chicks with tweezers, a pipette, or a syringe with a thin tube attached to it instead of a needle (depending on the chick size). In the first week of life, chicks are usually fed with a mixture of egg yolk and warm boiled water. Then you can gradually switch to compound feed, which at first will also have to be introduced into the chick's beak using specially prepared equipment. After 2 weeks, the chick can already be completely transferred to a well-chopped compound feed.
Step 5
If you specialize in raising songbirds, be prepared for the chick to constantly begging for food, and will have to feed it every 15-20 minutes until it stops begging for food. Make sure in advance that the chick gets the food that his parents would feed (insects and their larvae). Gradually add chicken eggs, finely grated carrots or cottage cheese to their diet.
Step 6
If the chick is afraid to eat from tweezers or from a straw, then for the first time, gently open its beak and make sure that it swallows a portion of food. Subsequently, the chick will itself beg for food at the sight of a familiar little thing in the hands of the owner.
Step 7
Get the chicks vaccinated as needed. Be sure to give them vitamin and mineral supplements with their feed for optimal growth and development.
Step 8
Clean the room and change the bedding for the chicks daily.
