Both an individual and a legal entity can take custody of animals in a zoo in order to help the zoo. For their help, guardians are entitled to certain bonuses.
First of all, guardianship implies a donation of food for a ward for a certain amount, or a donation of funds for their purchase. Therefore, in order to become a guardian, you need to conclude a donation agreement with the zoo. The ration is calculated for a month for each animal individually (you can find out from the administration or on the zoo website) - this will be your monthly donation. True, the cost of food for some animals is very high, so the guardian can pay it in full (and in this case will become the only guardian), or not in full, but is obliged to donate at least the amount specified in the contract (then “your” animal may have and other guardians). Along with feeding, the guardian can pay for the maintenance of the animal (as a rule, 50% of the cost of feeding).
Individuals can arrange custody out of love for animals, a desire to help the zoo. Also, isn't it tempting to wear the title of guardian of a real hippo or grizzly bear? For legal entities, this is also an opportunity for self-promotion - after all, guardians are necessarily indicated on the signs next to the enclosures.
Also, the benefactor receives documentary evidence - a certificate of the guardian. He is among the first to learn about the events in the life of his ward animal, and if he has an addition, the guardian can give names to newborns. They write about the guardians on the site and in the press releases of the zoo, in some cases they even indicate links to the sites of the guardians (of course, for the term of the contract). Under certain conditions, the guardian is provided with passes to the zoo.
In some cases, the guardian can take a picture with his ward (if he is not dangerous), and even attract an animal to shoot a commercial. And if the guardian suddenly wants to hold a thematic event - the day of the name of his ward ("Day of the Tiger", "Day of the Hippo"), then he has every right to propose his idea to the zoo administration - however, in this case, the guardian undertakes to additionally support the action financially.
