Low egg production of chickens most often worries the owners of personal subsidiary farms in the autumn-winter period. In order for the chickens to carry consistently well at any time of the year, they should be properly kept and fed.

Step 1
First of all, ensure the optimum temperature in the poultry house. Maintain a positive temperature, but do not raise it above 25 degrees, as in a hot room the chickens lose their appetite, which immediately affects egg production. The same applies to the summer season. On hot days, you get much fewer eggs than at temperatures below 25 degrees. In hot weather, chickens can lay eggs with very thin shells or no shells at all.
Step 2
Equip your chicken coop with good supply and exhaust ventilation. This will allow maintaining the temperature regime at the desired level and not increasing the air humidity. In a very humid room, egg production also drops sharply, the maximum humidity level should not exceed 60%.
Step 3
Systematically, regardless of the season, extend the daylight hours in the hen house with artificial lighting. A day for chickens should begin at 5 o'clock and end at 23 o'clock. If this condition is not observed, then the eggs will be stably small.
Step 4
For high egg production, feed the chickens 4 times a day with high-quality grain feed with the addition of cake, chalk and vitamin-mineral mixtures. In addition, place a feeder with sand, wood ash, shell, quartz or granite grains. Without these additives, chickens will lay and peck eggs instantly. Often one has to observe a situation when one is rushing, and all the livestock is waiting and vying with each other rushes to peck at the laid egg. This is precisely due to the insufficient amount of additives or their complete absence.
Step 5
If your chickens of the egg direction stop laying after 10 months of active egg production, then this is normal. There will be a rest period for three weeks. In chickens of the meat direction, this period occurs every 7-8 months. The total period of egg production of chickens is no more than 2, 5-3 years, after which it is better to change the livestock.
