Together with all family members, you have carefully considered and decided to get a cat: you have chosen the breed, color, sex, planned the lifestyle and future of the pet. Until the pet crosses the threshold of your home, you need to take care of the care items that are vital for the cat in advance.
Shipping
To bring your cat home safely and comfortably for your pet, buy a shipping container. Look to the future - take it with an adult cat in mind. This is not the last journey of the pet, so choose the most appropriate option for the so-called "carrying".
Restroom
You will need a toilet immediately after the pet moves into your home. The first thing your cat will do is to explore new housing and will soon want to find a nook for feces. Place the cat yourself in the prepared container and make sure that it goes where it should go. If everything goes well, then the animal will remember the place for the toilet and will relieve itself only there.
Choose a deeper container for the toilet. This is especially true for cats, which have a highly developed instinct for burying excrements. For the tray, it is better to use granular filler, since it is convenient to clean it and it practically does not spread around the apartment on the pet's paws.
Set aside a secluded spot in the toilet, bathroom, or hallway for the litter box - cats need privacy. They are very clean, so clean up at least once a day and completely change your litter once a week. Do not forget that even a pet that usually goes to the toilet outside needs a litter box (for example, in winter or in the rain, a cat may refuse to go out the door).
Food and drink
Buy several bowls of different sizes in polypropylene or stainless steel for water, dry and wet food. Wash them promptly, and separately from the rest of the dishes. Choose a nook and cranny in your kitchen and always put the bowls in the same spot. The cat should always have enough clean and fresh water. They are unpretentious in food, but choose a diet depending on the breed and observe the regularity of feeding.
Litter
Provide your cat with its own bedding in a warm and private place. She can sleep with you or on any furniture in the house, but the cat will need a secluded place where no one will disturb her. Organize a scratching post nearby - your pet will definitely sharpen its claws, and a special post will protect your furniture.
Important little things
The cat definitely needs toys: specially purchased mice and balls or do-it-yourself papers on threads should be located throughout the house. Usually cats look after themselves, but if necessary, comb the hair, clean eyes, ears and teeth, bathe it. See your veterinarian regularly and in case of discomfort - he is your best assistant in caring for your cat.
