The unpleasant side of keeping dogs and cats in a city apartment is the possibility of a specific smell. You can get rid of this problem by using regular soda when cleaning.

It is necessary

  • - soda;
  • - vinegar;
  • - spray bottle.

Instructions

Step 1

Use baking soda. This substance is a reliable odor absorber. Soda can handle not only the toilet tray, but also any surface in the house. It also removes unpleasant odors from upholstered furniture, carpets or cushions.

Step 2

Sprinkle a thin layer of baking soda on the surface of the smelly item. After an hour, remove it with a vacuum cleaner, and then wipe the surface with a damp cloth. A significant advantage of this substance is that it does not leave marks on fabrics, unlike other deodorizing agents.

Step 3

Add a small amount of baking soda to your cat litter. The smell of urine will be much less noticeable.

Step 4

Make your own deodorizing spray. For half a liter of water, use a teaspoon of baking soda and a tablespoon of vinegar. Pour the solution into a spray bottle. Use an aerosol if you get an unpleasant odor. Never spray this product on an animal. The smell of vinegar, even in small concentrations, is unpleasant for dogs and cats.

Step 5

If your pet constantly urinates in the same place, use a substance that completely neutralizes the smell. First, thoroughly clean the surface of any urine residues. Let the place dry, and then treat it with a neutralizer. This product is similar to the aerosol described earlier, but the concentration of soda and acetic acid should be three times higher here. That is, for 0.5 liters of water, you need to use 3 teaspoons of baking soda and 3 tablespoons of vinegar.

Step 6

Keep your pet's bed clean. Rinse the water bowl daily. Wash the food utensils after each meal. Do not leave food that has not been eaten by animals. A cat or dog can drag pieces of food, for example, under a sofa, and there they will decompose, spreading the smell of putrefaction.
