The variety of breeds of decorative rabbits is very large, among them there are both breeds that were bred in the last century, and those that appeared relatively recently. When choosing a pet, you can focus on your own capabilities (for example, long-haired animals need careful and regular care), or be guided by aesthetic preferences and choose according to their appearance.
Instructions
Step 1
The widespread belief that a decorative rabbit must be very small is not true. Baby rabbits of dwarf breeds really belong to decorative ones, but besides them, large eared beauties are bred for the soul and are happy. If you don't want a dwarf, but a large rabbit, the French ram is for you. Representatives of this breed have long, hanging ears, giving them a resemblance to rams, their weight reaches 5 kilograms.
Step 2
There are also dwarf fold-eared breeds - these are Dutch dwarf fold-eared rams. Adult animals weigh about 2 kilograms, while the length of the ears can exceed 20 centimeters. Due to the shape of the ears that block the ear canals, these rabbits do not hear very well, but they are less fearful than representatives of other breeds.
Step 3
If you are not intimidated by the need to devote a lot of time to caring for your pet's coat, choose a fluffy angora dwarf rabbit. Their larger counterparts are bred for the sake of obtaining valuable down, while decorative ones are purchased mainly for the soul. You can choose an angora rabbit with shorter hair that requires less worries, or purchase an angora lion that looks like a big ball of cotton wool - the "lions" have thick long hair that covers not only the body, but also the head, so that the animal's muzzle is almost invisible behind the soft rest in peace.
Step 4
Another type of rabbit that attracts attention with its beautiful fur is the dwarf rex. Unlike Angora, Rex are short-haired, but their fur resembles soft velvet due to the fact that the guard hairs grow vertically and rise above the undercoat. Harmoniously folded and rather large Rexes resemble beautiful plush toys.
Step 5
If you are looking for a very small rabbit, look out for hermelin, also known as Polish rabbits or ermines. The largest hermelins weigh no more than 1.5 kg. These snow-white rabbits with red and blue eyes have an independent and quarrelsome character, so it can be difficult for novice breeders to cope with them.
Step 6
Another babies are short-haired dwarf rabbits, also known as colored ones. They are famous for a variety of colors - from snow-white to bluish-gray and light red. Representatives of this breed are small (up to 1.5 kg) and have funny short erect ears. They are also cheerful, active and unpretentious, which is why they are suitable even for inexperienced owners.
