Scientists who have studied the behavior of human four-legged friends have come to the conclusion that an ordinary dog is able to grasp the meaning of about a hundred human words and may even know a little about mathematics. However, directed selection of centuries has made it possible to create individual breeds that exceed this average level. The leaders in canine intelligence are shepherd dogs - shepherds. This is not surprising, since the protection of pets and management of the herd require special skills. Among the breeds that claim the highest level in the canine hierarchy is the famous Scottish Shepherd Dog (collie). Some people may remember the fascinating TV series of the last century, which tells about the adventures of the Scottish Shepherd named Lassie (Lassie). In each of the episodes, this cleverest dog performed "actions" that sometimes are beyond the power of a person. The image itself, of course, was invented by the scriptwriters, but even the behavior of the dog-actor in the frame vividly characterizes the Scottish Shepherd, whose loyalty to the owner and ingenuity has earned her well-deserved fame among several generations of TV viewers and dog lovers. Indeed, the Scottish Shepherd Dog for several years of training is capable, for example, of unmistakably recognizing more than one hundred objects and bringing the owner exactly the thing that he named to her. Collie clearly distinguishes objects by shape and color, the animal is able to perform actions with them on a given command - touch, move, bring. High canine intelligence makes the Scottish Shepherd indispensable in managing a herd of pets. Collie easily finds contact with even the most stubborn animals, subjecting them to their will. The Scottish Shepherd can rightfully be called the smartest of all other dog breeds. She is not only quick-witted, but also friendly towards people, especially towards children. The unique qualities make the collie not only a good assistant in business, but also a favorite of the family.
