Market
At the poultry market, you can find an animal for every taste, from gray tabby kittens to exotic pythons. The problem with the market is that there are no guarantees for the health or pedigree of a potential pet. It is not uncommon for people to bring kittens or puppies from their own pets to the market to be placed in good hands. So if a pet is still for the soul, and not for the sake of pedigree and breed, you can get it on the market even for free.
Shelter
Another option for finding a pet is a shelter or animal welfare organization. A wide variety of animals end up in the shelter, from yard dogs to thoroughbred cats thrown into the street by their negligent owners. Such animals especially appreciate care and attention, they are grateful and in no way inferior to pedigree puppies and kittens. Oftentimes, taking an animal out of a shelter means saving its life, as the shelters quickly overflow.
