Seasonal molting is a natural process that occurs twice a year. Depending on the individual characteristics of the animal, the change of hair in domestic cats and dogs lasts from 2 weeks to 2 months.

The molting process can be accelerated; for this, special preparations and vitamin complexes have been developed. But before using them, consult your veterinarian or breeder: some wool products have contraindications.

Molt time depends on the length of daylight hours and air temperature. In animals that do not leave the apartment, molt goes on constantly: they lose their wool little by little, but all year round.

Are the floors, carpets and sofas covered in thick wool? This grief is easy to help! Do not think that it is easier for owners of short-haired animals: long "curls" are much easier to clean than short "needles", which are hammered into furniture upholstery, decorative pillows and floor coverings.

First, vacuum up the wool with a conventional nozzle. You will need a turbo brush to clean carpets.

Before cleaning, spray any antistatic spray on the textile surfaces: this will make the work easier. Is the wool wrapped around the vacuum cleaner's brush during cleaning? Purchase a seam ripper from a craft store to quickly clean your accessory.

A damp rubber glove can be used instead of a turbo brush. Use it to wipe down the woolly surface.

In especially difficult cases, masking paper tape will help out: the adhesive layer will collect even hairs that have dug into the fabric. A sticky roller will also help.

Don't want to waste your energy on cleaning? Spend more time than usual on daily grooming of your pet: it's easier to comb it thoroughly than to collect hairs everywhere later.

There are tools for each type of wool. For a short, smooth one, brush out with a rubber glove brush; for long, you need a massage brush and a wide-toothed comb. For animals with a well-developed undercoat, a special furminator brush has been developed, which effectively cleans dead down hair.

If your pet does not mind water treatment, bathe him more often during molting: the water washes away all the fallen hair. Be sure to use a conditioner that makes combing easier.

Cats that “comb their hair” with their tongues every day may need medications during the shedding season to help cleanse the stomach of swallowed hair. The simplest and most affordable remedy is petroleum jelly. If you notice that the cat is nauseous or constipated, give her 5-7 ml of petroleum jelly as soon as possible. Use a syringe without a needle instead of a spoon.
