Adopting an animal is a serious step that needs to be carefully considered. A pet requires a lot of attention, care, patience and financial investment. However, modern people are increasingly striving to touch nature, so pets fill both private houses and small apartments.
Standard choice
Profile magazine, together with the SpiegelOnline Internet resource, compiled a list of the most popular animals that live in the homes of Russian residents. The first place was taken by cats with 70% of the votes. The owners argued their choice by the simplicity of content, unpretentiousness in food and the uselessness of walking.
Almost 40% of people prefer to keep dogs at home. They lose to cats, because require much more attention and care. It is necessary not only to walk with the dog, but also to communicate, play, pay attention to it. Also, depending on the breed, the dog should be subjected to great physical exertion and training, for which there is not always time and money.
Cats and dogs are the absolute leaders among the most popular pets. These animals can be safely called "traditional", because their home keeping has been practiced for centuries.
The third and fourth places in the ranking are occupied by birds and fish (9, 2% each). The first ones require a little attention, they practically do not get sick. The main thing is to provide the bird with a clean cage. Creation fish are more whimsical. By themselves (except for exotic species), they are inexpensive, but their maintenance costs "a pretty penny." The most expensive items are the aquarium, filtration system and various fillers.
The fifth place among the most popular animals was taken by hamsters. Little fluffy creatures bring joy to 2.5% of the population. They are comfortable, take up little space (exactly the size of their cage) and are very interesting to watch. Often people with children give birth to hamsters in order to accustom the child to cleanliness and accuracy.
World exotic
However, not everyone wants to stop at the "standard" package. Today in the world there is a real boom in the most unusual exotic animals that people decide to keep at home.
Iguanas are the leader in this area today. Large reptiles look impressive, inspire respect and some fear. However, they are much safer than crocodiles. If you want to get an iguana, carefully read the rules for keeping a reptile. Also, be prepared to invest heavily in it.
Unfortunately, many iguanas don't live long. The reason for this is the carelessness and laziness of their owners, who do not try to understand the animal and do not study its nature. With the right content, the reptile will delight you for many years.
The second place among the popular domestic exotic animals is taken by snakes. Some settle on simple, non-toxic species. But fans of extreme sports decide on dangerous experiments, and give birth not to cute snakes, but to spectacular cobras and even massive pythons. Not everyone can afford to keep such animals: they require special conditions and nutrition.
The third place mini-pigs are very popular. Little pigs look cute, are able to live in an apartment, quickly learn commands and follow the rules. The advantage of pigs is also in their long life: about 30 years with proper care.
