Do you have a cat at home? You are probably either already familiar with how the animal behaves during the sexual heat period, or at least heard about it. If you are not the owners of a valuable representative of the breed and do not want to raise kittens and put them in good hands, it is best to neuter the cat in advance. How should you prepare for this?
Instructions
Step 1
If your cat is already 8 months old - however, many veterinarians advise to wait up to a year - then first decide what kind of operation should be performed to sterilize the cat. Distinguish between ligation of the fallopian tubes and removal of the uterus with the preservation of the ovaries, which do not allow the cat to become pregnant, but at the same time all the signs of sexual desire and estrus remain; it is also possible to remove the ovaries, suitable for very young cats, and the so-called castration, in which both the uterus and the ovaries are removed. If you want the cat to become calmer, not screaming and not demanding the cat, then stop either at the removal of all reproductive organs, or at the removal of the ovaries.
Step 2
In the evening before the operation, do not feed the cat tightly, and in the morning do not give it food at all to avoid the appearance of vomiting after giving anesthesia. When the anesthesia works, the veterinarian will cut the fur on the cat's tummy and make an incision on it - if it is decided to stop ligating the tubes, then it is very small, and if it is planned to remove the reproductive organs, then it can reach several centimeters in length. After all the necessary manipulations have been done, the incision is sutured.
Step 3
Owners should definitely monitor the cat while she is recovering from anesthesia. Place the animal on a mat in a warm place on the floor to prevent it from falling and injuring itself. The cat's mind will remain somewhat clouded for some more time, so do not leave it alone. Calm the animal, pet it and watch it not make any sudden movements.
Step 4
For at least a week after the operation, the animal must wear a blanket. This is to prevent the cat from "licking" the seam, which in turn can lead to bleeding. At first, she actively tries to get rid of the unusual "item of clothing", but if the owner calms the cat and distracts her attention, then she quickly gets used to the blanket and stops noticing it.
