Not many people think about how animals perceive the world around them. Meanwhile, scientific research has revealed many interesting facts. It turns out that cats, dogs, monkeys, etc., each animal has its own version of the perception of the world.
Instructions
Step 1
Cats see and orient themselves well at night. During this period, their pupils dilate significantly, reaching a diameter of 12-14 millimeters. It should be noted that a person's pupil diameter, as a rule, does not exceed 8 millimeters. Therefore, the cat needs much less light to easily distinguish between other animals and objects. In addition, a cat's eyes have a special structure. In their depths, behind the retina, there is a special reflective layer. It casts light that hits the cat's eyes. In summer, when everything is flooded with bright light, their pupils narrow. After all, such a phenomenon can harm the sensitive retina of the eye.
Step 2
The cat's world looks pale and faded. This is due to the following fact. In humans, there are two types of light-sensitive cells in the eye: cones and rods. The cones perceive color. The sticks distinguish between light and dark. Cats also have two types of cells. Only a person has four rods for one cone, and a cat has twenty-five. That is why they see colors worse than we do.
Step 3
Dogs are excellent at seeing ultraviolet rays. In addition, purple and blue are available to their eyes. You need to know that visual acuity is also related to how well the eyes can see objects that are located at different distances. This property is called accommodation. In humans, like many mammals, the curvature of the lens changes. The dog does not have such a feature.
Step 4
Monkeys can easily distinguish between green and red tones. It is this feature that allows them to recognize ripe fruits well. In African forests, scientists have observed what leaves monkeys eat. They usually chose nutritious, tender and young leaves tinged with a reddish hue.
Step 5
Birds of prey are good at seeing ultraviolet light. This is great for helping them find their prey. The birds' eyesight is amazing. For example, a kite from a great height is able to notice a small mouse that is hiding on the ground.
